By Air: The nearest airport is Shillong Airport (Umroi), though flight connections are limited. Most travelers fly into Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, roughly 175–180 km away, followed by a road journey via Shillong. By Rail: There is no direct rail link to Dawki. Guwahati Railway Station is the nearest major railhead, from where travelers continue by taxi or bus via Shillong. By Road: From Shillong, Dawki is about 82–96 km away, taking roughly 2.5–3 hours by road via Pynursla. The route often combines well with stops at Mawlynnong (Asia's cleanest village) and its nearby living root bridge, about 20 km before Dawki. Shared taxis and Sumos run from Shillong's Police Bazaar, though hiring a private taxi offers more flexibility for combining nearby sightseeing spots. Local Highlights: Boating on the Umngot River is the main draw, best enjoyed on clear, sunny days when the water's transparency is at its finest. The Dawki Suspension Bridge and the annual boat race festival held around Shillong's statehood day are also popular attractions.
