By Air: The nearest airport is Tezpur Airport in Assam, about 200 kilometres away. Alternatively, you can fly into Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam, which is around 350 kilometres from Sangti Valley. By Rail: The nearest railway station is Tezpur Railway Station in Assam, about 200 kilometres away. Guwahati Railway Station offers more frequent and wider train services from major cities. By Road: Sangti Valley is situated approximately 14 kilometres from Dirang, a town in the West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, and is connected to the Bomdila-Tawang Highway, making it accessible by road. From Tezpur, expect roughly a 6–7 hour drive through Bhalukpong and Bomdila to reach Dirang, followed by a short onward drive to the valley. Most travelers base themselves in Dirang, from where Sangti Valley is an easy day trip. Birdwatching Highlights: Beyond black-necked cranes, Sangti Valley is also home to a variety of other bird species, including common hoopoes, hornbills, cuckoos, and warblers, with over 300 species recorded in Sangti Valley and the neighbouring Mandla-Phudung area. The best time to see the cranes is in the early morning or evening, when they are more active and vocal.
