Kaziranga – Home of the One-Horned Rhino
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Assam's Golaghat and Nagaon districts, is renowned as the "Home of the One-Horned Rhino," sheltering roughly two-thirds of the world's Great One-Horned Rhinoceros population. Stretching along the Brahmaputra River's floodplains up to the Karbi Anglong Hills, the park also hosts tigers, wild elephants, and swamp deer amid lush grasslands and wetlands.

By Air: The nearest airport is Jorhat Airport, about 97 km away, connected to Kolkata, Guwahati, and Bengaluru. Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, roughly 217–225 km away, offers far better national and international connectivity, including flights from Paro (Bhutan) and Bangkok. Tezpur Airport, around 60–70 km away, is another option, though with weaker flight connections. By Rail: The nearest railway station is Furkating Junction, about 75–98 km away, well connected to Guwahati, Kolkata, and New Delhi. Guwahati Railway Station (around 163–240 km) and Jorhat Railway Station (around 90–138 km) are other options. By Road: From Guwahati, Kaziranga is about 193–225 km away, taking roughly 4–5 hours by road via NH 37. From Jorhat, it's a shorter drive of about 90–97 km, taking around 1.5–2 hours. The park's main entrance lies at Kohora on NH 37, well connected by state and private buses from Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, and other Assam towns. From airports or railway stations, taxis and buses are readily available for the onward journey. Safaris: Kaziranga offers jeep safaris and elephant safaris, with morning slots typically running 5:00–7:30 AM and afternoon slots around 3:00–4:00 PM, ideal for spotting rhinos, elephants, and birdlife.
