By Air: The nearest airport is Donyi Polo Airport (Hollongi), about 25–30 km away, offering modern facilities and night-landing capability, the state's best current air link. Lilabari Airport in Assam, around 57 km from Itanagar, is another option with flights to Kolkata and Guwahati on select days. By Rail: Naharlagun Railway Station is Arunachal Pradesh's main railhead, connected to Guwahati via the daily Donyi Polo Express (about 7 hours) and to New Delhi via the weekly Arunachal AC SF Express (roughly 38-40 hours). By Road: From Guwahati, Naharlagun/Itanagar is about 315 km, taking roughly 6-7 hours by state buses or private taxis via NH-27 and NH-15. From Naharlagun, Ziro Valley is a further 3-hour drive south through scenic hills and tribal settlements, making it the natural starting point for travelers heading there. State transport buses and shared taxis run regularly from Naharlagun onward to Ziro, Bomdila, and Tawang. Entry Permits: Indian nationals need an Inner Line Permit (ILP), obtainable online or on the spot at Arunachal's entry check-gates; foreign nationals require a Restricted/Protected Area Permit (PAP).
