By Air: The nearest airport is in Lilabari (IXI), North Lakhimpur, Assam, approximately 155 km from Pasighat. Dibrugarh Airport (Mohanbari), around 150–167 km away, offers better overall connectivity and is reachable via the Bogibeel Bridge in about 4–5 hours by road. By Rail: The nearest railway station is at Murkongselek (MZS), about 35 km from Pasighat, from where local buses or taxis complete the journey. Travelers from farther cities can also reach New Tinsukia Junction and continue by road. By Road: Pasighat is located 270 km from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. From Dibrugarh, it's about 150 km, taking 4–5 hours via the Bogibeel Bridge. NH-52 connects Pasighat with the rest of the country, with daily state transport bus services from Itanagar, Along (Aalo), and Yingkiong. It's best to move around and explore Pasighat and its neighboring areas by car or taxi, since no other public transport is readily available locally. A Century of History: Pasighat is credited with the first airfield in Arunachal Pradesh, established in 1946, and the first Agricultural Institute in the state, founded in 1950. It was even an early contender to become the state capital before the honor went to Itanagar in 1974. Local Highlights: Don't miss the Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary (13 km away, reachable only by cruising the Siang River), white-water rafting on the Siang's Grade 3+ rapids, and nearby Pangin, where the turquoise Siyom River meets the green Siang. Entry Permits: Indian nationals need an Inner Line Permit (ILP), obtainable online or on the spot at Arunachal's entry check-gates; foreign nationals require a Restricted/Protected Area Permit (PAP).
