By Air: The nearest airport is Tezpur, about 165–200 km away, with Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, roughly 270–340 km away, offering broader national connectivity. By Rail: Tezpur Railway Station is the closest major rail stop, from where travelers continue onward by road. By Road: From Tezpur, Shergaon is about 4 hours away by car via Bhalukpong, Sessa Orchid Sanctuary, and Rupa. From Guwahati, the journey takes roughly 7–10 hours, either via Bhalukpong–Bomdila or the scenic Balipara–Chariduar route skirting Nameri National Park. Shergaon sits just 11 km from Rupa and about 32 km south of Bomdila, making it a natural first stop on the West Kameng circuit en route to Dirang or Tawang. Shared taxis, private cabs, or rented bikes are the most practical ways to travel, since public transport options are limited. Valley Highlights: Wander through the orchards of the State Horticulture Farm, trek 30 minutes to the hidden Choskorong Waterfall, and visit the 200-year-old Zengbu Gompa monastery overlooking the valley. Entry Permits: Indian nationals need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh, obtainable online or from designated offices in Guwahati, Itanagar, or Delhi. Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
