By Air: The nearest airport is Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, from where travelers continue by road via Tezpur and Tawang. Paro International Airport in Bhutan can also serve as an alternate entry point for a longer overland approach. By Rail: Tezpur Railway Station is the nearest railhead, from where the journey continues by road through Bhalukpong, Bomdila, and Dirang to Tawang, and onward to Zemithang. By Road: The most accessible route is via Tawang, passing through Lumla market, taking roughly 3–5 hours. Darkgreenadventures Zemithang lies about 75–90 km from Tawang, with the Gorsam Chorten stupa itself around a 3-hour scenic drive from Tawang town. Only one bus operates daily from Tawang to Zemithang, departing at noon and arriving by evening, with the return bus leaving Zemithang early the next morning — most travelers instead hire a private taxi or shared Sumo for flexibility. Travelers from other parts of India typically need a minimum of two days to reach Zemithang from Guwahati, the nearest civil airport. Local Highlights: Don't miss the towering Gorsam Chorten stupa, the sacred "Holy Tree" at Khinzemane, the Guru Padmasambhava Monastery (T Gompa), and traditional Monpa villages like Muchat and Lumpo, along with several scenic waterfalls en route, including BTK (Bap Teng Kang) Falls.
